Rod pump:

A sucker rod pump is also referred to as an "insert pump" as its plunger is attached to and moves up and down with the sucker rod string. sucker rod pump is suitable for reducing the time of workover for deep wells as it is not necessary to pull all the tubing out of the good hole when checking the pump, which makes the operation quicker and the service life of tubing longer. The sucker rod pump is in a state of "free hanging", so the sucker rod pump is suitable for deviated wells. According to seating mode, the sucker rod pump can be divided into two types: cup hold-down and mechanical hold-down. According to the anchored position, the sucker rod pump can be divided into top hold-down pumps and bottom hold-down pumps which include stationary barrel and traveling barrel types.

Tubing Pump:

The tubing sucker rod pump involves placing a barrel, along with the tubing, into the well at the desired depth. Subsequently, a plunger is inserted into the barrel using a sucker rod. Compared to the rod pump, the tubing pump has a larger bore size due to the tubing dimensions, resulting in a higher rate for the sucker rod pump. Based on the seating mode, the rod pump can be categorized into three types: THC pump (stationary heavy wall, cup seating, tubing pump), THM pump (stationary heavy wall, mechanical seating, tubing pump), and THD pump.
